Timothy L. Harris
Vice President and General Manager
National Defense
As the vice president and general manager of the National Defense strategic business unit, Tim Harris is responsible for the acquisition and execution of defense and intelligence-related programs.
Tim has more than 30 years of design, manufacturing, project and systems engineering, and program management experience supporting aerospace industry and government customers.
Tim most recently served as program director for a large classified program. In that role, he developed outstanding customer relationships and the program continues to receive excellent award fee scores. This strong performance has established new opportunities with key government customers.
Since joining Ball Aerospace in 1996, Tim served as a director of business development, defense programs and several mission areas for National Defense. He has served in other technical and managerial roles and was the program manager for two of our largest programs at Ball, including the Space-Based Space Surveillance (SBSS) satellite that recently achieved initial operational capability with the U.S. Air Force. Tim has also worked on the Modular Star Sensor (MSS), the Stratospheric Aerosol and Gas Experiment (SAGE), and Hubble’s Near-Infrared Camera and Multi-Object Spectrometer (NICMOS).
In 2011, Tim was recognized with the Gabe Award, the company’s highest honor, to acknowledge his continuous outstanding professional service and successful ability to enhance our marketplace competitiveness while producing an exemplary body of work.
Before joining Ball Aerospace, Tim held positions at Rockwell International (Rocketdyne), United Technologies and McDonnell Douglas.
Tim earned a bachelor of science in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Florida and has completed post-graduate work at Florida Atlantic University.
