MASINT/AGI

About the Program

For nearly 25 years, Ball Aerospace has pioneered, refined and delivered unique Measurement and Signature Intelligence (MASINT) and Advanced Geospatial Intelligence (AGI) data exploitation algorithms, analytical tools and operator workbenches. Under the current MASINT/AGI contract, Ball Aerospace supports the National Air & Space Intelligence Center (NASIC), National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency (NGA), Defense Intelligence Agency (DIA), National Ground Intelligence Center (NGIC), and other government organizations.

MASINT/AGI products are a form of Geospatial Intelligence derived by quantitative and qualitative analysis of remotely sensed data. Data collected by remote sensors are then exploited for the purpose of identifying distinctive features associated with the target in order to locate, identify and characterize its performance and behavior. Sensors analyzed by Ball include:

  • Overhead non-imaging infrared
  • Synthetic aperture radar
  • Spectral
  • Line of sight radar
  • Thermal/Infrared
  • Over the horizon radar

MASINT/AGI intelligence is used by military operators, Department of Defense analysts, and national policy makers.

Ball’s Role

Ball Aerospace is the prime contractor for the MASINT/AGI program and focuses on the manipulation and exploitation of data collected by both national and military assets. Ball Aerospace’s role encompasses the complete end-to-end remote sensing and data exploitation process needed to support intelligence production and related research and development missions.

Under the current MASINT contract Ball Aerospace provides a broad spectrum of systems engineering support including:

  • Data analysis and exploitation
  • Analysis workstation development
  • Software/algorithm tool development
  • Remote sensing phenomenology
  • Software/systems engineering and integration
  • Field test/ground truth support
  • Collection systems design
  • Modeling and simulation
  • Research and development
  • Advanced distributed simulation
  • Program management

Outstanding Technical Capabilities

Ball Aerospace has been a participant in the development and implementation of innovative data exploitation technologies since the early 1980s. We supported our nation’s response to 9/11 and have provided 24/7 operations support continuously since then. We have pioneered unique research and development products that support the intelligence community users today and their continuously evolving missions.

Ball Aerospace scientists, engineers and analysts are national experts in the data processing field. Innovative research, coupled with our systems engineers and operationally focused analysts, guides the discovery to provide tools and capabilities to support Scientific and Technical Intelligence and Military Operational Support production missions.
