Charitable Giving Guidelines
In addition to its obligations to shareholders, employees and customers, Ball Aerospace recognizes the need to act as a responsible corporate citizen. We work to enrich the communities in which we live and work by supporting a variety of 501(c)(3) non-profit organizations.
Ball Aerospace focuses a substantial portion of our contributions budget on community programs that address diversity; basic human services, arts and culture; and Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM) education.
Exclusions include:
- Religious organizations, political groups, or individuals
- Nonprofit- and school-affiliated athletic teams, groups and events (e.g., golf tournaments)
- School-affiliated orchestras, bands, choirs, trips, drama groups, yearbooks, and class parties
- Disease-specific charities, hospitals, or medical research
- Animal charities
Decisions are made on a quarterly basis. Proposals must be re-submitted annually. Each proposal should contain a one-page cover letter that summarizes the following information:
- Non-profit contact name, title, address phone number, fax number, and email address
- Brief history of the organization, mission statement, and goals
- Type and scope of services offered, and the geographical area serviced
- Specific details as to how requested funds would be used
- List of other corporate funders
- List of directors and/or officers, and their affiliations
- Copy of the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) letter noting that the organization is qualified under Section 501(c)(3) as a tax-exempt, non-profit agency
