Ball Aerospace Highlights Commitment to Scientific Discovery at AAS
Boulder, Colo., January 7, 2013 – Ball Aerospace & Technologies Corp. will highlight its commitment to building the tools of discovery as a meeting sponsor for the 221st American Astronomical Society in Long Beach, California, January 6 -10.
Ball has played a significant role in NASA’s astrophysics and planetary missions including the James Webb Space Telescope, the Hubble Space Telescope, Kepler, the Wide-field Infrared Survey Explorer, the Spitzer Space Telescope, the Infrared Astronomical Satellite, the Cosmic Background Explorer, the Chandra X-ray Observatory, and the future Sentinel Mission.
Ball Aerospace is also the spacecraft partner to the Jet Propulsion Lab for the Fast INfrared Exoplanet Spectroscopy Survey Explorer (FINESSE) mission designed to study the chemical composition of the atmospheres of planets orbiting stars in the Milky Way Galaxy. NASA is currently reviewing mission concept studies for Finesse and expects to select up to two of the Explorer Mission proposals this year.
